Shannon Sams
Shannon is a partner with Jett Law Group, LLC with expertise in local tax, real estate and land use. Shannon has extensive experience in transactional and litigation matters at both the state and federal appellate court level which provide his clients the flexibility to rely on his guidance from the time they acquire an interest in property forward to ownership or sale.
Shannon started his legal career as a land use attorney in a boutique law firm where he represented the interests of individuals and developers in permitting and rezoning matters. His practice is now primarily focused on representation of local governments, lenders, homeowner associations and real estate investors in their transactional and litigation matters. Shannon has completed hundreds of curative quiet title actions that have provided his clients with marketable title.
Prior to joining Jett Law Group, Shannon held his own firm for six years and successfully represented his individual, corporate and governmental clients in hundreds of real estate transactions and litigated matters. During this time, Shannon also acted as general counsel for a national real estate and finance entity regarding representation of its real estate and lien acquisition portfolio.
Prior to starting his own practice, Shannon was senior counsel in the Office of the Fulton County Attorney where he acted as lead counsel in the representation and defense of the Tax Commissioner on all matters and the Sheriff, County and Board of Assessors in tax and foreclosure actions. During his time at Fulton County, Shannon also utilized his background in land use and local regulatory law in representation of the Community Development Department and County in zoning and permitting matters and in defense of constitutional takings and first amendment violations.
Shannon attended the University of Georgia for his undergraduate studies and obtained BA in English. Shannon was one of the first three students to complete the dual degree at Georgia State and Georgia Tech where he obtained both his Masters in City in Regional Planning and Juris Doctorate degree. The Joint Degree Program provided Shannon a foundation and understanding of the interdisciplinary connections between the law and local and regional planning and the opportunities each provide for advancement of housing and infrastructure.
Shannon is a member of the Governmental Attorneys, Local Government and Real Property law sections of the State Bar. He enjoys spending time in the outdoors and baseball. He lives in Atlanta with his wife and two children.
